CLEAN YOUR CHOMPERS!!!

Maddi had her first dentist visit on 9/12/14. I had been preparing her for the visit for a while… letting her know that the dentist will count her teeth, check for any wiggly teeth (which she is obsessed with the idea that her teeth are wiggly—someone from school must have had a wiggly tooth), and see how sparkly her teeth are! I told her they will wear gloves so they don’t get her spit all over their hands, she gets to be SUPER special while she is in their AWESOME chair, and gets STICKERS when she is done. So, in other words… I made the dentist sound like Disney World in her eyes ;) LOL

After hearing all of this great news about the dentist, she wanted to dress up. *She is such a girlie girl* She originally wanted me to curl her hair even… not happening for just the dentist, just so you know! LOL

When we got their, Mommy’s turn was first. Daddy and Maddi played in the waiting room together. I came out and showed her my NEW SPARKLY PURPLE TOOTHBRUSH and NEW TOOTHPASTE, and she was quite impressed!  Daddy’s turn was next, and she got to “hold his hand, because Daddy forgets to sit still like a big boy.” So she pulled her chair over next to him and inspected the WHOLE process. Held his hand, watched Mickey Mouse House club, and even got to brush the dragon’s teeth!?

Daddy was done, and now… it was Maddi’s turn! She could barely stand the excitement at this point. Her feet were dancing, smiling like a goofball waiting for them to let her into the chair!? The dental hygienist, was SUPER fun and SUPER sweet with Maddi. Taking time to show her that her mask was not scary, showed her all her tools, gave her some COOL sunglasses so the light would not be in her eyes, and even let her take the chair for a ride. Maddi giggled through the WHOLE cleaning and thought it was so awesome that the dentist counted TWENTY teeth in her mouth!? Maddi didn’t have any cavities and earned an AWESOME princess sticker. She proudly wore it all day, and even wanted it one her pjs that night. She is anxiously waiting for her next dentist appointment, and mentions it every time she brushes her teeth. LOL

First Day of Pre-school & Tumbling

Because Maddi’s b-day lands after the cut off for school, she will be going to kindergarten at age six.  So we decided that we would hold off and put her into pre-school next year, because she tends to catch on to things really quick, and become bored with things even quicker. We didn’t want to risk her hating 2 years of pre-school before kindergarten. Also, I just take pride in knowing that my 3 year old has already learned so much from Mommy and Daddy. She knows her alphabet and what sounds they make, sight reads about 10 words, count to 60 with very little assist, spell her first and last name, knows her birthday, colors in the lines (mostly), and sings songs from memory by herself (amongst many other skills). The week that pre-school started, we noticed some acting out from Maddi on things she would never do. So after 5 days of probing on why she was “making bad choices” everyday at school, she told me “Because I have to stay down. I have to stay down and go to baby room.”  Let me translate that for you… because she had to stay down stairs in daycare while the other 3 year olds went upstairs for pre-school, and after pre-school is over a lot of parents pick their kids up, so they consolidate the remaining daycare kids in the toddler room.  L I was sad that she was sad L So, Mommy and Daddy had Maddi enrolled in pre-school the very next day!! And, guess what… she is back to her happy normal self and thriving in pre-school… she LOVES it! 

After the stint of behavior changes, it made Mommy and Daddy pay attention to Maddi’s want for stimulation and need for activity. So, the very next week… she was enrolled in TUMBLING!!! She loves wearing the leotards, playing with new friends (some are actually from her school) and showing us her “tricks” LOL She is such a little live wire, that she loves all the running around, singing, stretching, and “tricks” they get to do. Oh, and don’t forget the STICKERS after class!!! LOL

Family reunion 2014

Maddi’s first family reunion (for my Mother’s side) was 8/09/14 in Mason City, Iowa. We took our camper up a few days before to get setup and have some fun together before all the family and festivities started. The campground we stay at have a water park attached to it with great kid friendly equipment … and Maddison had a blast! The first two days she wanted nothing to do with the water slides. Once Aunt Christy and Alex got there, I bribed her with an ice cream sandwich if she would go down with me JUST ONE TIME… I could see her internally struggle with the decision to say yes… so I KNEW I had to show her there was nothing to be afraid of. (Daddy was napping at the camper so he missed out on the first time on the blue slide… but made it to the water park to take her for the first time on the green slide) After the first time down, we couldn't get her OFF the slides. I probably went up those stairs about 25 times the first day!!

Maddi was DYING for her cousins from Minnesota to get to the campground for the 2 days that we were there prior to them. Promises of smores, swimming, games, giggles, and hugs from her family made for one EXCITED little girl!!!

Maddi had SOOOOO much fun that it was a pretty quiet ride MOST of the way home. LOL
